How to use this website

Forum
The forum has a new WYSIWYG editor associated with it that allows for image uploads, rich text editing, youtube linking, and more. Just hover over the icons and see what's what. You can also quote replies like on the old site as well as using wowhead to link items. There is also free tagging, turning this site into a pseudo wiki system. You can link to anything on the site easily but just typing in a search term with double brackets or using camel case.
If you look beneath the WYSIWYG editor you'll see some small instructions about what is supported. Please note that the buttons on the WYSIWYG editor support many things not mentioned here! The following is simply text you can insert to be auto-replaced. To insert images or youtube or files or anything of that sort click on the toolbar buttons.
- Link to content with some text, where "some text" is the title of existing content or the title of a new piece of content to create. You can also link text to a different title by using show this text. Link to outside URLs with some text, or even http://www.example.com. Link to existing or new content with CamelCaseWords.
- You may quote other posts using [quote] tags.
- You may insert videos with [video:URL]
- You can include [item][/item] tags to automatically link the items to Wowhead. Either use the Item ID ([item]29171[/item]) or the exact name ([item]Earthwarden[/item])
Wiki
The Wiki section is designed to allow anyone in guild to edit and update content. This can be used to maintain strategies or talent builds or anything else similar in nature. Everytime the content is saved, a new revision is also created to help prevent accidental loss of data.
Raid Planner
The new raid planner has been custom built from scratch to handle many more situations than before. Now we can see easily at a glance who is signed up and what their notes are, and admins can leave separate notes about confirmations without overwriting players' notes. In addition the interface is much more dedicated to explaining the situation; the notes the admin leaves for you, your current status at a glance, and more information about the numbers of people signed up.
We now have a 5th 'role' category; the not available category. This will allow folks to leave messages to the raid leaders about whether they definitely cannot attend or not. With the old planner often times we had to guess if someone had just forgotten to sign up or whether they truly could not attend. Now we'll know for sure!
Also, to help combat the last-minute removal when people cannot attend, characters cannot be removed within a set period when raids are nearing start. Instead they will be moved to the N/A spot and forced to leave a note to let people know what is going on.
There's also a standby space now so raid leaders can ask certain folks to come in later and be online in case they are needed.
Also, another big new feature: raid times are in your own time zone! Please edit your timezone on your user profile page to select the closest one to your area. Times will still be displayed in server time just to help clarify the difference, but hopefully this will help folks adjust raid times to their local time more easily. No more missed raids!
Characters
The raid characters are also now more robust; they support fully automated retrieval from the armory now and will retrieve item scores and talent specs to help raid leaders make their decisions more easily. Also, you'll see an 'update' tab on your character screen -- clicking this forces an armory refresh. Go ahead and use this whenever the data there seems wrong.
Front Page Portal
The front page has been designed to offer all needed information at a glance. Guild members can easily see unread forum posts, recent forum activity, any recent content (wikis, etc) posted on the site as well as WoW news feeds. Officers will have even more information easily accessible, with bank requests and applications to the guild staying in their view until they are resolved.
Also take note of the bank request link on the left menu bar; use it to request items from the bank more easily!
Gallery
There is a newer, better image gallery system on the site. Each user has access to create their own galleries and can set them public, private, or to specify a password so no one can see it but those with the password. There is of course still the public gallery and guild gallery, too.
News Feeds
We currently pull news feeds in from MMO-Champion and WoW Insider. You can see the list of titles on the front page and also a full listing of each item right on our news page, so you don't need to worry about going anywhere else for your WoW news!
